From 24 October, you can board Rapid KL vans on two routes in Cheras and Putrajaya without booking a ride on an app. Rapid KL is running a three-month pilot of these vans, which take riders to and from rail stations on fixed routes and schedules. Each trip costs RM1.
The pilot vans run in two zones that Rapid KL On-Demand already covers. While the trial runs, you can’t book On-Demand rides in these two zones. On On-Demand, you booked a ride on the app and the van came to the spot you picked. The pilot vans follow a set route instead, so you wait at one of their stops and get on, the same way you’d catch a bus.
Route T400B runs between Bandar Tun Razak and Taman Midah. It links Bandar Tun Razak station on the LRT Sri Petaling Line with Taman Midah station on the MRT Kajang Line. Route T512B runs between Presint 11 and Putrajaya Sentral, where you can switch to the MRT Putrajaya Line or the KLIA Transit.
You can tap a debit card, a credit card, or a Touch ‘n Go card at the van. If you have a MyRapid concession card, you pay 50 sen a trip. OKU riders with the Rapid Mesra pass ride for free.
RM1 is half what you’d pay on an On-Demand van. Rapid On-Demand rides have cost RM2 since 1 February, when the RM1 promotional fare ended.
If you take the van to the station and back every working day, you’ll spend RM44 over 22 working days. Before the pilot, the same trips on On-Demand cost RM88, so you keep RM44 a month, or up to RM132 over the three months. With a MyRapid Concession Card, the pilot vans cost you RM22 a month.
If you’re on a My50 pass, you already pay RM2 a trip on On-Demand vans. Rapid KL hasn’t said whether pass holders pay anything different during the pilot, so check with Rapid KL before your first trip.
Rapid KL’s announcement didn’t include the timetable, how often the vans come, or the operating hours. Check Rapid KL on X for the stops and times, and leave some extra time if you need to catch a train. Before your first ride on 24 October, find the stop nearest you and keep a card ready to tap.
