Yes, you read that right. Alliance Bank will pay you a higher rate on your savings if you run, and the more you run, the more you earn. The KM TO RM Challenge 2026 runs from 1 August to 31 October 2026, and finishing the monthly running targets can push your savings account rate up to 4.10% p.a.
Finish your runs, and you could win a Garmin watch worth up to RM3,269, or one of ten RM300 JD Sports gift cards. Only the first 1,200 people who register get in, so if this sounds like your kind of challenge, move fast.
First, you’ll need an Alliance Bank Basic Savings Account or Basic Savings Account-i. New customers can open one through the Alliance Bank app using eKYC and the invitation code ‘kmtorm’, or visit any branch. Existing Alliance customers who already hold another current or savings account must open this specific account at a branch.
After that, register through the BiiB event page using your account number. BiiB is the fitness platform that tracks your runs, so you’ll need the BiiB mobile app to sync activities from your preferred running app or upload runs manually. For joint accounts, only the primary account holder’s runs are counted.
Every month comes with a different running challenge. Complete the month’s target and keep an average balance of at least RM500 in your account, and you’ll qualify for that month’s promotional interest.
The table below shows the running target for each month and the promotional rate attached to each tier. These rates already include the account’s normal 0.75% p.a. board rate.
| Month | Running Target | Promotional Rate (% p.a.) |
| August 2026 | 15 days × 3km | 2.50% |
| September 2026 | 12 days × 5km | 3.30% |
| October 2026 | 10 days × 10km | 4.10% |
To qualify for a month’s promotional rate, you must complete that month’s running challenge as verified by BiiB and maintain an average daily balance of at least RM500 during that month. The easiest way to ensure you qualify is to keep RM500 or more in the account throughout the month.
The promotional interest is paid only on new money, up to a maximum of RM300,000. Alliance Bank measures this by comparing your balances against what you held with the bank in July 2026.
If you’re opening your first Alliance Bank account, all deposits into the account count as new money. Existing customers, however, cannot simply move funds from another Alliance Bank account to qualify.
For example, if you deposit RM15,000 into your new Basic Savings Account but withdraw RM5,000 from another Alliance Bank account during the same month, only RM10,000 will be treated as new money for the promotion.
Alliance Bank’s example below assumes a customer completed all three monthly challenges. Since they reached the highest tier in October, the 4.10% p.a. promotional rate applies to every month they qualified, even though they only reached that tier at the end of the campaign.
| Month | New Money | Bonus Earned (at 4.10%) |
| August 2026 | RM10,000 | RM28.45 |
| September 2026 | RM100,000 | RM275.34 |
| October 2026 | RM300,000 | RM853.56 |
| Total | RM1,157.36 |
The 4.10% p.a. rate applies to all three months here because the customer completed the highest tier in October. The bonus figures show the extra interest above the account’s 0.75% p.a. board rate (a difference of 3.35% p.a.), calculated on each day’s balance. The promotional interest will be credited into your account within eight weeks after the campaign ends.
Completing all three monthly targets also enters you into a prize draw for a Garmin Forerunner 970 worth RM3,269, a Forerunner 570 worth RM2,399, or a Forerunner 265 worth RM2,220.
Even if you complete just one month’s challenge, you’ll still receive one entry into a separate lucky draw for one of ten RM300 JD Sports gift cards.
Winners will be contacted by 15 January 2027 to verify their identity, and prizes will only be delivered within Malaysia.
Deposits are protected by PIDM up to RM250,000 per depositor, and the Basic Savings Account-i is based on the Shariah concept of Tawarruq. Full terms are available on Alliance Bank’s campaign page.
