AmBank has announced that SMS One-Time Passwords (OTP) for online transaction authorisation will be replaced with AmSecure, effective 15 February 2025. The new feature, available on the AmOnline App, will apply to AmBank Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and AmBank Islamic Cards-i. This transition is aimed at enhancing security and providing customers with a more seamless authorisation process.
With AmSecure, cardholders will no longer receive SMS OTPs. Instead, they will authorise transactions through a secure one-tap approval process within the AmOnline App. To use AmSecure, customers must first download and register the AmOnline App, which is available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery.
Once registered, AmSecure will bind to a single mobile device for added security. Only one device can be linked at a time, and a 12-hour cooling-off period will apply if a new device is registered. During this time, no transactions can be performed via AmOnline. Cardholders are encouraged to enable push notifications to receive authorisation prompts promptly.

After initiating an online transaction, cardholders will receive a notification prompting them to launch the AmOnline App. They can then review the transaction details and tap “Authorise” to approve it. If a push notification is not received, the authorisation can still be completed by selecting the AmSecure option on the pre-login screen of the app.
For further assistance, customers can contact the AmBank Contact Centre at +603-2178 8888, available daily from 7.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m., or email [email protected]. Enquiries can also be made via the AmMail feature in the AmOnline App or by visiting any AmBank branch.
