Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad is moving forward with its digital transformation journey by officially retiring its older online banking services — the GO by Bank Islam app and its legacy website (www.bankislam.biz) — effective 28 June 2025.

This shift comes after the successful rollout of its enhanced digital platforms, the BIMB Mobile app and BIMB Web (web.bimb.com), which were introduced in November 2024. Since then, over 90% of customers have made the switch, showing strong support for the bank’s digital leap.

Thanks to the overwhelming response, Bank Islam has decided to bring forward the shutdown of the old platforms by six months, originally scheduled for 28 November 2025. The bank is committed to offering a safer, smoother, and more user-friendly banking experience for everyone.

So, what’s new with BIMB Mobile?

Designed with users in mind, the updated app comes packed with improved features like biometric login, enhanced security, and a cleaner, more intuitive interface. It’s also received positive feedback from users, scoring 4.8 on the App Store, 4.7 on Google Play, and 4.0 on Huawei AppGallery.

To keep up with modern needs, Bank Islam will also be introducing new features soon, including:

  • Cross-border QR Payment: enabling QR-based payments in selected countries.
  • Seamless Onboarding for New-to-Bank Customers: allowing account opening and
activation without visiting a Bank Islam branch.
  • Overseas Fund Transfer: offering secure and convenient international remittance
    services.
  • BIMB Mobile Lite: where financial literacy begins, empowering young, digital-native
customers to independently manage their accounts as early as 12 years old.

Bank Islam encourages all remaining users of GO by Bank Islam to switch over as soon as possible to avoid any disruptions. The new BIMB Mobile app is available for download on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery. For best performance, users will need iOS 10 and above or Android 13 and above.
