Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) has collaborated with Tech Hunter Global Sdn Bhd (PayHunter) to introduce its new digital payment terminal called the DuitNow QR Soundbox, with the aim of facilitating cashless transactions for micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs). To kickstart things, it has been deployed to vendors at 24 selected Ramadan bazaar spots in Kuala Lumpur.
In a joint statement, BSN said that the launch of this product will provide MSME business owners with quick, secure, and direct access to their accounts without the hassle of handling cash. Additionally, they will be notified with a clear chime when transactions are performed; this essentially serves as way to combat scams for both the merchant and the customer. These efforts are in line with the government’s Geran Digital PMKS Madani (GDPM), which seeks to enhance digital solutions for such enterprises.
In launching the new offering, BSN and PayHunter have teamed up to offer participating Ramadan bazaar vendors the opportunity to become BSNeBiz merchants. As part of the arrangement, these vendors will also be provided with a complimentary BSN DuitNow QR Soundbox, in hopes that it will simplify operations for them.

To note, some of the Ramadan bazaars that are involved in this initiative include Bazaar Ramadhan Wangsa Maju, Bazaar Ramadhan Setapak Indah, Bazaar Ramadhan Taman Desa, Bazaar Ramadhan Taman Bukit Cheras, and Bazaar Ramadhan Telawi Bangsar.
BSN further noted that it expects to officially roll out the BSN DuitNow QR Soundbox to its customers in the next quarter. In the meantime, it will work with PayHunter to continue upgrading it; this includes adding a new feature where merchants can input product prices directly into the device that generates accompanying QR code.
“The introduction of the Soundbox terminal is a convenient feature to further facilitate ease of completing the payment process. As a mandated financial institution, BSN is dedicated to empowering MSMEs through PMKS Madani digital grant, ensuring their success and contributing to inclusive economic growth,” said the chief executive officer of BSN, Jay Khairil.
Meanwhile, the chief executive officer of Tech Hunter, Jenson Wong shared that the company has taken the initiative to offer vendors a more secure and faster way to receive payments, following the public’s increased preference for digital payments. “Thanks to our BSN sponsors, the introduction of the Dynamic QR Soundbox with Card Acceptance and BSN’s DuitNow QR Soundbox is now made possible and is expected to provide peace of mind to vendors while selling their products,” he said.
