Maybank Sets RM2,500 Limit For Google Pay Transactions
Author Avatar

Maybank will introduce a RM2,500 cap per contactless transaction for all Maybank cards used with Google Pay starting 27 January 2026. Transactions above this amount will require customers to use their physical card to complete payment.

From the same date, Maybank will also remove the requirement to key in a card PIN for Google Pay contactless transactions above RM250, simplifying higher-value contactless payments while retaining existing security controls.

How The RM2,500 Contactless Limit Works

Under the updated process, RM2,500 will be the maximum value allowed for each individual contactless transaction made via Google Pay. Any purchase that exceeds this limit must be completed using the physical card.

The limit applies per transaction and does not change a card’s overall credit or debit balance limits.

What Credit And Debit Card Users Need To Know

Maybank credit cardholders may continue to make multiple contactless transactions using Google Pay, subject to their available credit limit, provided each transaction does not exceed RM2,500.

For Maybank debit cardholders, each Google Pay contactless transaction will also be capped at RM2,500. Transactions will be declined if they exceed the daily purchase limit set by the customer.

Customers who prefer a lower spending limit may adjust their debit card purchase limit through the Maybank2u, or M2U, platform. Any changes made will also affect Google Pay contactless transactions.
