Maybank To Discontinue Classic M2U Site As It Completes Migration Of Services
Author Avatar

Maybank has said that access to its Classic Maybank2U online banking website will soon be disabled for individual customers, as it permanently moves the Own Account Transfer service from the Classic site to the current Maybank2u web come 20 January 2024. This essentially marks the final stages of the bank’s process in decommissioning its Classic online banking website.

“Starting 20 January 2024, the Own Account Transfer service on the Classic site will be permanently moved to the current Maybank2u web. You will soon no longer be able to access the Classic site, as all services on the Classic site will have been permanently moved to the current Maybank2u web,” the bank shared in an update, adding that this is part of its continuous efforts to enhance customers’ online banking experience.

That said, the Classic site will still be accessible to Maybank2u Biz users. This segment of customers can continue to bank online via the Classic site as usual, if they’re still using it.

For context, Maybank first introduced its current Maybank2u website back in 2018, describing the new site (back then) as a more “simplified, personalised, and optimised version of Maybank2u”. Since then, it has been migrating the various services on the Classic site to the Maybank2u website in stages, in a bid to help customers gradually adjust to the new site.
