Perodua and Bank Rakyat officially launched the Perodua-Bank Rakyat Credit Card-i on 22 September. It’s Perodua’s first credit card with a bank. You get points worth 0.5% of what you spend on petrol, servicing, takaful and EV charging, and there’s no annual fee.
You can get the card if you’re a Perodua customer, or if you work for Perodua or the Perodua Dealer Association (PDA). Perodua sold 359,904 cars in 2025 alone, which it estimates was 43.9% of all new cars sold in Malaysia.
For every RM10 you spend on petrol, servicing, takaful or EV charging, you get five points. Bank Rakyat values each point at one sen.
| Spending | Points Per RM10 | Return |
| Petrol, servicing, EV charging and takaful | 5 | 0.5% |
| Other retail spending | 1 | 0.1% |
So if you spend RM300 a month on petrol, you’ll get 150 points, or RM1.50. Over a year, that’s RM18. There’s no minimum spend, your points last three years and you redeem them in Perodua’s P-Circle app.
Do note that the five points only count for Shariah-compliant spending in Malaysia, at shops with a merchant category code (MCC) on Bank Rakyat’s list. That’s the code that tells your bank what kind of shop you paid at. If a petrol station or workshop isn’t on the list, you’ll get one point instead of five, so check your first statement to see how many points a fill-up earned you.
EV charging has its own code, MCC 5552, and this card covers it. Only a few cards reward EV charging so far, as we explained in our guide to credit card rewards for EV charging.
Shariah-compliant spending overseas earns 10 points, according to Bank Rakyat’s terms. Bank Rakyat doesn’t add a foreign currency mark-up, so you’ll only pay the card network’s exchange rate.
Islamic cards charge a profit rate instead of interest. If you pay at least the minimum on time for nine months in a row, you’ll pay a profit rate of 13.5% p.a. on any balance you carry. If you pay on time for at least six of those nine months, it’s 17% p.a., and anything less puts you at 18% p.a. Bank Rakyat is a cooperative bank, so members who hold its shares pay less, from 13% to 17% p.a.
At 18% p.a., leaving RM300 unpaid costs you RM4.50 in profit for the month. That’s three times the RM1.50 in points you earned on it.
The card comes with free takaful cover, called Group Family Takaful, until you turn 70. It pays off what you owe on the card, up to RM300,000, so it isn’t life cover. Your family also gets a RM1,000 bereavement benefit (Khairat Kematian). If you’re buying something big, purchases of RM1,000 and above can go on a 0% instalment plan.
Bank Rakyat doesn’t say exactly who counts as a Perodua customer, so ask at a branch if you’re unsure.
You’ll need to be at least 21 and earn at least RM24,000 a year (RM2,000 a month). Supplementary cardholders can be as young as 18.
Apply online through BRICK, Bank Rakyat’s online application site, or iRakyat, its online banking. You can also walk into any Bank Rakyat branch.
If you already have a Bank Rakyat Credit Card-i, you can call the Card Centre at 03-2693 6880 to switch to this one or add it. Perodua’s sales and service outlets can tell you more about the card too.
Perodua says it’ll run a campaign with special Perodua Package offers for people who apply, but it hasn’t shared the details yet.
This card suits you if you’re a Perodua customer who pays the bill in full every month. You’ll get points worth 0.5% of your car costs, with no annual fee. QV-E drivers earn the same points on EV charging as on petrol, and travellers won’t pay a foreign currency mark-up.
