Ryt Bank Adds Google Pay Support For Contactless Payments
Author Avatar

Ryt Bank has added support for Google Pay, allowing customers to make contactless payments using their mobile phones at supported terminals. The update applies to Ryt debit cardholders using Android devices and is now available for everyday transactions.

The move expands Ryt Bank’s payment options and aligns its debit card functionality with other banks that support mobile wallet payments, as contactless payments become a standard part of daily spending in Malaysia.

Mobile Payments Available Through Google Pay

With Google Pay enabled, Ryt Bank customers can add their debit card to the Google Pay app and use their phone to pay at merchants that accept contactless transactions. Payments are completed by tapping the phone at the terminal, without needing to present a physical card.

For customers who already rely on mobile wallets for everyday purchases, the feature allows Ryt Bank cards to be used alongside other payment methods within the same device.

How Ryt Bank Operates As A Digital Bank

Ryt Bank is a digital-only bank operating under a licence issued by Bank Negara Malaysia and backed by YTL Digital Bank. It does not operate physical branches, with all banking services managed through its mobile application.

Accounts, cards, and transactions are handled entirely in-app, reflecting the bank’s focus on mobile-first banking for users who prefer managing their finances digitally.

Everyday Banking Features Offered By Ryt Bank

Beyond mobile payments, Ryt Bank offers a range of features designed around daily spending and short-term financial needs. Its savings account provides an interest rate of up to 4% per annum, subject to qualifying activity within the app.

Cardholders can earn 1.2% cashback on local spending at MyDebit-accepting merchants, with a monthly cap applied, as well as 1.2% cashback on foreign physical card transactions. Foreign transactions are processed without foreign exchange fees, which may appeal to users who travel or spend overseas.

Ryt Bank also includes an in-app artificial intelligence assistant, Ryt AI, which allows users to earn up to RM5 when completing eligible transactions through the assistant. In addition, the bank offers its own PayLater service, Ryt PayLater, which provides a credit limit of up to RM1,499 and 0% interest for the first month, giving customers an option to manage short-term spending within the app.

Why Google Pay Support Affects Everyday Spending

Mobile wallet compatibility allows bank cards to be used through widely accepted payment platforms, reducing reliance on physical cards. For Ryt Bank customers, Google Pay support offers another way to pay without changing how accounts or transactions are managed.

All payments made through Google Pay continue to appear in the Ryt Bank app, allowing users to track spending and manage their finances as usual.

What The Update Signals For Ryt Bank Users

The addition of Google Pay support reflects Ryt Bank’s focus on improving practical features that support everyday use. As digital banks continue to compete on convenience and usability, mobile wallet access plays an increasing role in how customers choose and use banking services.

For users, the update adds flexibility at the point of payment while keeping the overall banking experience consistent.
