UOB Bank has shared a more detailed update regarding the timeline of the upcoming migration of Citi’s credit cards to its ecosystem, complete with key milestone dates that Citi cardholders should take note of.

On its FAQ page, UOB highlighted several important dates where changes will be implemented on selected Citi services, starting from 11 July 2023. Here’s the full list of dates that you should pay attention to as an existing Citi customer:

Key milestone datesDetails
11 July – 16 JulyCiti Rewards Points redemption service to be discontinued, as announced previously
14 July (8pm onwards) – 16 July– Migration in progress to transfer Citi accounts to UOB.

– Services may be interrupted, including your access to Citibank Online Banking, Citi Mobile App, and cash advance withdrawals.
17 July onwards– Customers to download UOB TMRW app and register for UOB online banking. Existing UOB customers can just log in to view your migrated accounts.

– Cardholders to continue using existing Citi credit cards to access UOB credit card features.

– All credit card payments to be made to UOB using the same card number.

– Redeem your rewards points, including those previously earned, through UOB Rewards+.
October onwardsNew UOB credit cards to be delivered to customers. You can activate your cards to continue enjoying the benefits.

UOB also stated that it will keep all customers notified of any upcoming changes and important information that they need to be aware of throughout the whole migration process. Additionally, the bank will guide their customers along the way on what needs to be done next.

For cardholders in particular, UOB will also send you a “welcome communication” to let you know when your new UOB card(s) is on its way to you, starting from October. Between post migration (after 16 July 2023) until then, you can continue to use your Citi-branded credit cards with the corresponding updated UOB card benefits.

“There will be no change to your card number, CVV, or expiry date immediately post migration, allowing it to operate as normal. To make the migration from your new UOB credit card(s) as seamless as possible, there’ll be sufficient notice and reminders sent prior to any interruption to your Citi credit cards,” the bank reassured, adding that your credit limit will also remain unchanged; your existing limit will be applied to your migrated credit cards as well.

In addition to that, UOB stressed that cardholders will not be required to update any personal information, make any applications, or cancel any of their Citi credit cards for the migration process. Communications detailing the key changes post migration will also be sent to you – although you can also keep yourself updated via the FAQ page here.

For context, UOB had acquired Citi’s consumer banking business in Malaysia in early 2022, after Citi announced its intention to exit from retail banking in a total of 13 markets in April 2021, including Malaysia. Following that, UOB began the gradual process of transition in November 2022 after successfully obtaining a vesting order from the High Court to transfer Citi’s consumer banking assets and liabilities to UOB. Since then, the bank has been introducing revisions to several of its cards to facilitate the process, including the UOB ONE Classic and Platinum, UOB Lazada card, and the UOB Preferred card. It also introduced some new cards, such as the UOB Zenith, PRVI Miles Elite, and World.
