Wise Users Can Now Scan And Pay With DuitNow QR In Malaysia

If you’re living in or visiting Malaysia, you can now scan and pay with DuitNow QR directly from the Wise app.

The update comes after Wise connected directly to Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet), which operates Malaysia’s national payment network. You can now pay at businesses that accept DuitNow QR without switching to a local banking app. DuitNow QR is Malaysia’s national QR payment standard and is accepted by banks, eWallets and merchants across the country.

The update is rolling out progressively over the coming weeks. If you don’t see the DuitNow QR feature yet, make sure you’ve updated your Wise app to the latest version and check again later, as support is being introduced in stages.

More Than Just QR Payments

The update is mainly useful if you already use Wise to hold or spend money in different currencies.

Wise has also added support for DuitNow Transfer. Instead of entering a bank account number, you can send money using the recipient’s mobile number or National Registration Identity Card (NRIC). The recipient’s name is displayed before you confirm the transfer, helping prevent money from being sent to the wrong person.

Wise says similar direct connections to local payment systems have helped speed up transfers across its global network, where 77% of transfers are now completed within 20 seconds, double the share from five years ago.
