Affin Bank Launches Kill Switch Feature For Enhanced Credit Card Security
Author Avatar

Affin Bank has introduced a new security feature, the Kill Switch, to enhance the protection of its cardmembers against fraud and unauthorised transactions. This self-service tool allows users to instantly block all transactions on their AFFIN credit cards in case of suspected fraud, loss, or theft.

As of 13 January 2025, cardmembers can activate the Kill Switch at any time to immediately stop all transactions on their AFFIN Cards. This feature acts as a panic button, providing an extra layer of security for users who suspect their cards have been compromised.

Cardmembers are advised to activate the Kill Switch if they believe their card has been stolen, lost, or used without their authorisation. Additionally, it should be used if any suspicious activity is detected, such as unauthorised transactions or unusual charges.

The Kill Switch completely blocks all transactions on the affected card, effectively preventing fraudulent purchases and misuse. However, cardmembers can still access and manage their accounts through AffinAlways, use their Current or Savings account for transactions, and continue making payments for outstanding credit card balances, instalments, and financial plans such as Fixed Payment Plans, Balance Transfers, and Cash on Call. It is important to note that any instalment plans with merchants will temporarily be suspended while the Kill Switch is active.

To unblock an AFFIN Card after activating the Kill Switch, cardmembers must contact Affin Bank’s Contact Centre. General cardholders can call 03-8230 2222, while AFFIN Premium Cardholders can reach out to 03-8230 2323 for assistance.
