CIMB Expands 1-For-1 Dining Privilege For Preferred Credit Cardholders To More Customers
Author Avatar

CIMB Bank is revising the terms and conditions of its 1-for-1 dining privilege, which is currently made exclusive to CIMB Preferred Visa Infinite and CIMB Preferred Visa Infinite-i credit cardholders who meet a specified minimum asset under management (AUM) requirement. Effective 1 October 2023, this benefit will be expanded to include more cardholders, including those holding the CIMB Visa Infinite and CIMB Petronas Visa Infinite-i cards – with some revisions to its promotion mechanics.

At present, CIMB Preferred Visa Infinite and CIMB Preferred Visa Infinite-i cardholders can automatically tap into this special 1-for-1 dining privilege when they meet the minimum AUM prerequisite of RM250,000. This essentially entitles them to 1x complimentary set menu when they purchase one set of any specially curated menus at participating restaurants, such as De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan, Bijan Bar & Restaurant, and ALIYAA. The list of restaurants also includes several Michelin restaurants like Tamarind Hill, Ushi, and Sushi Taka.

Come 1 October, this perk will be expanded beyond this exclusive group, and will also be offered to Preferred cardholders with AUM of less than RM250,000, as well as selected non-Preferred cardholders, namely those with the CIMB Visa Infinite and CIMB Petronas Visa Infinite-i credit cards. They are, however, required to meet a minimum monthly spend of RM5,000 in order to tap into the dining privilege.

In addition to that, CIMB is also revising the claim mechanics of the 1-for-1 dining privilege, which currently limits eligible Preferred cardholders to only one reservation made per month (must be fulfilled before they can make another reservation). This will change with the latest revision, where all eligible cardholders can make up to 5x of 1-for-1 dining reservations per calendar month when you meet further specified minimum spend requirements as well.

Here’s a table to better clarify this revision to the 1-for-1 dining privilege by CIMB:

Complimentary set menu/reservations
(based on date/month of reservation)
Monthly spend requirement for:

– CIMB Preferred Visa Infinite and Infinite-i cardholders (AUM ≥ RM250,000)
Monthly spend requirement for:

– CIMB Preferred Visa Infinite and Infinite-i cardholders (AUM ≤ RM250,000)
– CIMB Visa Infinite
– CIMB Petronas Visa Infinite-i
1xNo spend requirementRM5,000
2xRM7,500RM7,500
3xRM10,000RM10,000
4xRM12,500RM12,500
5xRM15,000RM15,000

Note that your monthly spend requirement takes into account local and overseas retail transactions, but not payments like balance transfers, flexi payment plans or any monthly instalments, as well as balance cash advances.

As is the case before, you’ll need to email or call the Visa Concierge ahead of time to make your dining reservations for the 1-for-1 dining benefit of your card, and upfront payment must be made at the point of reservation. CIMB further shared that the reservations will be subject to a monthly capping of RM300,000 on a first-come first-served basis – up from the current capping of RM133,333.

If you’re an eligible cardholder and would like to find out more about the 1-for-1 dining privilege offered by CIMB via the Visa Concierge, head on over to this page – where you can also find the full list of participating restaurants.
