Maybank will be revising the cashback feature of the popular FC Barcelona Visa Signature from next month onwards. Beginning 1 August 2020, the card’s cashback will be fixed at 1% and applicable all year long.
The co-brand card, launched back in October 2017, quickly became a favourite among Malaysians due to its generous cashback rates. Its unique cashback feature is tied to the start and end of the European football season, with upsized cashback of 10% capped at a generous RM100 in May and August. For other months, the card offers 2% cashback on almost all retail spending except for utilities, government bodies, and e-wallet reloads, and is capped at RM50 a month.
In total, cardholders could earn a maximum cashback of up to RM700 per year, which is among the highest among its peers in the industry.
From 1 August 2020, however, the Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature will only award 1% cashback all year long on all retail spending (with the same restrictions to utilities, government bodies, and e-wallet reloads). Maximum cashback is capped at RM50 per month, which means you’ll need to spend RM5,000 to earn RM50.
Besides the amendment to the cashback earning rates, there are no other changes to the card from 1 August 2020.
