Author Avatar

Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad has announced a collaboration with the National Higher Education Fund Corporation, or PTPTN, through the launch of the Bank Islam Visa PTPTN Debit-i Card. The co-branded debit card is intended to support everyday transactions while allowing customers to link their education savings and loan-related accounts.

Account Requirements And Eligibility

PTPTN customers who wish to use the co-branded debit card are required to open a Bank Islam savings or current account. Cardholders may also link their Simpan SSPN account, allowing deposits and selected PTPTN-related transactions to be managed within the same banking arrangement.

The card is available to new and existing Bank Islam Visa PTPTN Debit-i cardholders, subject to the eligibility criteria set by Bank Islam.

Usage And Payment Features

The Bank Islam Visa PTPTN Debit-i Card supports Visa Contactless payments, allowing for faster transaction processing for retail purchases. The card can be used for local and international transactions at merchant locations where Visa is accepted.

Cardholders are able to set spending limits and contactless transaction thresholds based on individual preferences. Access to selected offers or privileges may also be provided by Visa or Bank Islam from time to time, subject to availability.

1% Cashback Structure And Campaign Period

Eligible cardholders can earn 1% cashback on retail transactions under a campaign running from 1 November 2025 to 31 December 2026. The cashback is capped at RM10 per month and applies to accumulated retail spending of at least RM200 per month.

Cashback earned under the campaign will be credited into the cardholder’s Simpan SSPN account within one month of the winner announcement.

Certain transactions are excluded from cashback eligibility. These include cash withdrawals, bank-imposed fees and charges, bill payments, JomPAY transactions, e-wallet top-ups, and government-related payments, in line with the applicable campaign terms and conditions.

Use For Simpan SSPN And PTPTN Payments

Cardholders who use the debit card to make deposits into Simpan SSPN or to repay PTPTN loans may be eligible for additional cashback rewards, subject to the prevailing campaign rules.

PTPTN stated that the initiative forms part of its ongoing efforts to support depositors and borrowers in managing their finances in a more structured manner.

Bank Islam said the debit card is structured to comply with Shariah principles and forms part of its broader digital banking offerings. The card supports cashless transactions while remaining aligned with existing education savings and financing arrangements.
