150 Putrajaya Students Can Get Free SPM Tuition This Year
Author Avatar

The Putrajaya Tuition Mission programme is returning for 2026 with RM150,000 allocated for free tuition classes for underprivileged SPM students across nine secondary schools in Putrajaya. Organised by Putrajaya Corporation with support from the Federal Territories Department, the programme was launched by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh at Kompleks Perbadanan Putrajaya.

Last year’s cohort saw 161 students achieve excellent SPM results, a 23% increase from 2024, with four students scoring 9As and one scoring 8As among the top performers.

Classes Run From May To October 2026

Running from 5 May to 18 October 2026, the programme offers 30 classes covering Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, and History. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday at Kompleks Kejiranan Presint 16, Putrajaya, with outdoor learning activities on the second Saturday of every month. Twenty teachers have been appointed as instructors and mentors, all of whom are experienced examination question setters at the Federal Territory level.

Targeting Students Who Cannot Afford Paid Tuition

The programme is targeting 150 students from nine secondary schools in Putrajaya. Alongside academic instruction, it is designed to help students build confidence going into their SPM examinations, giving those from lower-income households the same preparation opportunities as those who can afford paid tuition.

The programme is targeting a 100% pass rate among participants, with each student expected to achieve at least a grade C in all four subjects.

Yeoh said the initiative was established to support students who started from a disadvantaged position. “A fair system is not one that treats everyone the same way, but one that ensures no one is left behind even though they started from behind,” she said.

Free University Education For Low-Income Students

For students from low-income families who go on to perform well in SPM, Budget 2026 introduced free PTPTN education for 5,800 students enrolled at public universities, removing the financial barrier to higher education for those who qualify.
