Banks Announce Flood Relief Measures For Customers In Sabah

Several banks have rolled out flood relief assistance programmes to support individual and business customers affected by the recent floods and landslides in Sabah. The initiatives include repayment deferments, fee waivers, and financial support facilities aimed at easing the burden on households and enterprises.

Maybank: Flexible Repayment Options And Quick Claims

Maybank has activated its Flood Relief Assistance, which offers repayment deferments, reduced instalments, or tenure extensions. Fees will be waived for services such as replacement of debit cards, ATM cards, and cheque books.

Applications can be submitted via email or at Maybank branches, Commercial Banking Centres, or Auto Finance Centres. SME customers may also liaise with their relationship managers.

Separately, Etiqa, Maybank’s insurance arm, has introduced an expedited claims process for policyholders and takaful certificate holders. Claims can be lodged via WhatsApp or through the Etiqa Flood Claims Careline, without requiring forms or supporting documents.

CIMB: Six-Month Payment Relief And Humanitarian Aid

CIMB is extending a six-month payment relief on loans and financing. The plan also includes fee waivers, simplified applications, and a Disaster Relief Facility of up to RM700,000 for SMEs.

In addition to financial support, CIMB Foundation has deployed 5,000 ready-to-eat meal packs in collaboration with its disaster-relief partner, Kembara Kitchen, to assist frontliners and affected families.

Alliance Bank: Moratorium And Fee Waivers

Alliance Bank has launched a Flood Relief Assistance programme offering a loan moratorium of up to six months, loan repayment modifications, and waivers on selected service fees. 

Applications are open until 17 October 2025. Customers may contact the bank’s Customer Service at 03-5516 9988 or speak directly with their relationship managers.

Hong Leong Bank: Deferments And Additional Financing

Hong Leong Bank and Hong Leong Islamic Bank are offering up to six months of payment deferment on loans and financing facilities, including credit cards. The programme also includes free replacement of cards, cheques, and bank statements damaged in the floods.

Existing SME and micro-enterprise customers may apply for additional financing to support business recovery. Applications can be made by phone, email, or at the nearest branch.

Bank Rakyat: Six-Month Instalment Deferment

Bank Rakyat is offering a six-month deferment on instalments for both individual and business customers affected by the floods. The assistance covers a wide range of products, including personal, housing, vehicle, hire purchase, education, micro, and pawn broking financing, as well as Credit Card-i.

Applications can be submitted via email, including personal details, proof of address, and financing type. Credit Card-i customers may email, while business customers are encouraged to visit the nearest business banking centre for assistance.

BSN: Financing And Loan Repayment Assistance

Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) has invited affected customers whose income has been impacted by the floods to apply for repayment assistance, which may include a moratorium. Customers need to email the bank with their details and supporting documents, such as NRIC or utility bills for address verification.

In addition, BSN will waive replacement fees for flood-damaged or lost credit and debit cards.

Agrobank: Six-Month Moratorium For Affected Customers

Agrobank has announced a six-month moratorium for customers impacted by the floods. Eligible customers can apply to defer their financing repayments to help ease their financial burden.

Applications can be made by contacting the Agrobank Contact Centre at 1-300-88-2476 or by visiting the bank’s official website.

A Coordinated Effort To Support Communities

The relief measures from Malaysian banks aim to reduce the immediate financial strain on households and businesses in flood-affected areas. Customers are encouraged to reach out to their banks directly for more details on eligibility and application procedures.
