The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has introduced a Tax Identification Number (TIN) search service to support taxation activities under the Income Tax Act (ITA). This initiative aligns with the government’s announcement in Budget 2025. The TIN search platform is now accessible through the MyTax Portal at https://mytax.hasil.gov.my.

LHDN explained that individual taxpayers can perform a TIN search by entering their identity card number or passport number. Taxpayers in other categories, such as businesses, can search using their Business Registration Number (BRN) or company name. To facilitate the implementation of e-Invoices, the TIN search function is also integrated into the MyInvois portal and the MyInvois Application Programming Interface (API).

It further stated that additional information about the TIN search function via API can be found in the MyInvois Software Development Kit (SDK). To enhance digital identity verification, the TIN search service is also accessible on the MyTax portal through MyDigital ID.

The platform, whether accessed via the MyTax or MyInvois portal, will display only one matching TIN based on the search criteria entered. LHDN emphasised that the use of the TIN search function is strictly limited to activities permitted under the ITA 1967.
