The recent announcement of the GE14 dates was met with mixed reactions among netizens in Malaysia today. While most Malaysians are satisfied that a proper date has finally been announced, that was not exactly the case for some citizens especially to the half a million Malaysians who are working in Singapore.

If you are due to be in another country or place during election day and you would like to reschedule your flights to do so, then read on as we list down the airlines who are offering to waive their flight rebooking fees.

Cathay Pacific

Fee Waiver Detail : All ticket rebooking and re-routing charges for travellers whose flights fall on the date of the 14th general election (GE14) will be waived. Travellers are only allowed to make changes for all tickets only once, including those with restrictions on date change.

What is It Applicable For : Applicable for all flight tickets issued in Malaysia for Cathay Pacific and its sister airline Cathay Dragon.

Who is It For : Applicable for Malaysian citizens.

Malindo

Fee Waiver Detail : Fare difference and change fee for passengers who opt to switch their travel date but maintain the same destination will be waived. In addition to that, the change fee for those rerouting to a different destination will also be waived but the fare difference applies. All changes must be made within 7 days of the election announcement date.

What is It Applicable For : Applicable for all flight tickets issued in Malaysia for Malindo

Who is It For : Applicable for Malaysian citizens.

Air Asia

Fee Waiver Detail : All ticket rebooking and re-routing charges for travelers whose flights fall on the date of the 14th general election (GE14) will be waived. Travellers are only allowed to make changes for all tickets only once and postpone travel by up to 30 days. The change will be subjected to seat availability and any fare or tax differences. All changes must be made within 10 days of the election announcement date (before April 20).
Aside from that, travellers can elect to keep the fare value for future travel, which can be redeemed within 90 calendar days from the date of credit issue.

What is It Applicable For : Applicable for all flight tickets issued in Malaysia for Air Asia

Who is It For : Applicable for Malaysian citizens.

Malaysia Airlines

Fee Waiver Detail : All ticket rebooking and re-routing charges for travellers whose flights fall between May 8 and 10 (inbound or outbound) will be waived. Travellers are only allowed to make changes for all tickets only once, including those with restrictions on date change. All changes must be done within 10 days.

What is It Applicable For : Applicable for all flight tickets issued in Malaysia for Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and MASwings.

Who is It For : Applicable for Malaysian citizens.
