National carrier Malaysia Airlines (MAS) announced that it has entered into a multi-year partnership with the Manchester United Football Club (MUFC). With this, the airline will become the club’s official commercial airline.

In a statement, group managing director of Malaysia Aviation Group, Izham Ismail said that this exciting partnership will bring two global icons together to create unforgettable experiences for their fan members and customers.

“Aligning with a globally recognised club like United places Malaysia Airlines in front of a massive worldwide audience, significantly boosting brand recognition, especially in Europe and Southeast Asia where United has a large fanbase. We look forward to the exciting opportunities this collaboration brings and the joy it will bring to football enthusiasts worldwide,” said Izham.

Meanwhile, chief executive officer of alliances and partnerships of MUFC, Victoria Timpson said that Manchester United has had a long-standing and proud connection with Malaysia, given the support shown by enthusiasts across the country.

“We have three official Malaysian supporter’s clubs, with the Kuala Lumpur branch boasting one of the club’s largest supporter communities, reflecting the country’s love of all things United,” said Timpson, adding that the club is pleased to welcome MAS to its family of partners.

To celebrate the new partnership, MAS is hosting a competition where the winner will be rewarded with exclusive prizes, including two business-class flights to a destination of their choice and a two-night stay in Manchester. They’ll also receive exclusive passes to watch a Manchester United first-team training session and two hospitality tickets for a match at the club’s homebase, Old Trafford.

You can sign up for the competition here. MAS also urged Malaysians to stay tuned for updates on future special events and other opportunities provided via this partnership.
