Lazada has joined the government’s micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) e-commerce campaign to help approximately 30,000 local MSMEs in their post-MCO digitalisation journey. The campaign, which is introduced under the PENJANA economic recovery plan, will see Lazada partnering the government in a ringgit-for-ringgit co-funding programme to offer a variety of initiatives to eligible merchants.

Through the e-commerce campaign, Lazada will provide a series of customised incentives to its sellers, including an interest-free financing support for successful MSME loan applicants. Eligible merchants – both existing and new – can also tap into a full subsidy of their online start-up cost, such as the creation of their stores and product listings, as well as free shipping and delivery services. Moreover, they can access training and workshops alongside Lazada’s digital and advertising solutions, allowing for a quick onboarding process.

In particular, Lazada aims to extend this support to the disabled community to help them develop a sustainable income stream online. “If the pandemic has been hard on most businesses, we can only imagine the difficulty that the individuals with disabilities are facing during this time. We are working hard to reach out and onboard their businesses onto our platform, so that they too can benefit from this funding,” said the chief executive officer of Lazada, Leo Chow.

Lazada’s involvement in the MSME e-commerce campaign is a follow up to its own Pakej Kedai Pintar stimulus plan, which benefitted 50,000 SMEs from April to June. The e-commerce platform will also continue to cooperate with the government in the Buy Malaysia and Shop Malaysia Online initiatives that are coming up soon. These initiatives are also introduced under the PENJANA economic recovery plan.

The MSME e-commerce campaign is already ongoing, and will end on 30 September 2020. However, interested sellers must apply by 23 September to enjoy the benefits of the campaign. If you wish to find out more, head on over to Lazada’s MSME e-commerce campaign page.
