Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is currently holding an online auction for ringgit banknotes with special serial numbers. Conducted by the central bank’s appointed auctioneer, MNP Auctioneers (Central) Sdn Bhd, this is the fifteenth auction to be held for the fourth series of Malaysian banknotes with special serial numbers.
According to MNP, the auction will allow interested individuals to bid for ringgit banknotes with special serial numbers such as:
| Special serial number | Details |
| Single ladder | Banknotes with ascending serial numbers having different prefix (e.g. EG1234567). Also encompasses: – super single ladder bank notes (e.g. FF1234567) – reverse single ladder (EG7654321) – super reverse single ladder (FF7654321) |
| Low numbers | – Banknotes bearing the first ten digits (e.g. AB0000001 to AB0000010) and auctioned as a single note – Also encompasses super low number (banknotes bearing first ten digits with same prefix, e.g. BB 0000001 to BB0000010) |
| Solid | – Banknotes bearing all same numbers with different prefix (e.g. AD8888888) – Also encompasses super solid (banknotes with same numbers and prefix, e.g. CC8888888) |
| Ten million | – Banknotes with eight digits serial numbers (e.g. AA10000000) – Highest value among collectors for its uniqueness |
Meanwhile, denominations that you can bid for during this auction range from RM1, all the way to RM100.

The live bidding for most banknotes is already in progress, with bid prices starting from RM100 onwards. Meanwhile, the live auction is set to begin on 24 September 2022 (Saturday) at 11am.
