CIMB Discontinues SMS Notifications For Banking, Gold Services
Author Avatar

CIMB has announced that several SMS-based notification services will be discontinued starting 1 September 2025. The change affects both money transfer alerts in CIMB Clicks and the CIMB OCTO App, as well as gold price alerts for Gold Investment Account holders.

SMS Notifications for Transfers to be Discontinued

From 1 September 2025, the ‘Notify Recipient via SMS’ and ‘Alert Recipient by SMS’ features will no longer be available on CIMB Clicks and the CIMB OCTO App. Customers who wish to continue notifying recipients of transactions can still do so by email. This applies to DuitNow, Transfer Money, Pay Loans and Cards, as well as the Manage Favourites service.

Gold Price Alerts Moving to Email

On the same date, CIMB will also discontinue SMS alerts for daily gold price updates. Customers who wish to continue receiving notifications can subscribe to the email alert service through CIMB Clicks Web by updating their preferences under the Gold Account section.

Email Becomes the Main Channel

With these changes, email will become the main channel for both transaction notifications and gold price alerts. CIMB is encouraging customers to update their settings ahead of the deadline to avoid any disruption.
