The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has notified i-Sinar applicants that their payments for the month of April will be disbursed in stages, to be completed by 16 April 2021. On top of that, it will take between one to five working days for the amount to be credited into the applicants’ bank accounts, depending on bank procedures.

Over the past few days, the EPF has made multiple social media posts on Facebook and Twitter to reach out to their members on this matter. “We appreciate the patience and consideration of our members throughout the disbursement process,” it said.

In its posts, the EPF also reminded members that they can obtain the latest status of their i-Sinar payments through their i-Akaun. Alternatively, they can contact the special i-Sinar hotline at 03-8922 4848 for any other enquiries.

The i-Sinar facility was rolled out by the Malaysian government with the aim of assisting individuals who are struggling financially due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) and it variants. The facility allows members to withdraw up to RM10,000 or up to 10% of their Akaun 1 savings – subject to their remaining account balance.

Initially, i-Sinar applicants were required to meet certain eligibility conditions, but these were later removed, allowing all members below the age of 55 to make i-Sinar withdrawals. Finance Minister Tengku Seri Zafrul Aziz further emphasised that the removal of the conditions will reduce the burden faced by the people during these trying times.

Those who wish to make an i-Sinar application have until 30 June 2021 to do so. You can apply via the i-Sinar Online portal.
