Roadside parking in Kuala Lumpur will be free of charge from 2 July to 31 August 2021, said Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa via Twitter.

“Consumers don’t have to pay for anything and it is hoped that the savings can be used for things needed for the family,’’ tweeted the minister.

According to The Star, the news had taken DBKL officers by surprise as they were not aware of the matter. “I guess you just have to wait for the ministry to provide the details on that,’’ a DBKL officer said.

There are about 46,100 street parking bays in the Kuala Lumpur area.
