Malaysians will have to pay a little more for selected Gardenia bread products as the brand has decided to increase the prices of several flavoured breads by 5 to 20 sen, effective today.

The selected Gardenia products include the following:

  • Gardenia Squiggles (Funky Strawberry and Choco Malto)
  • Delicia Soft Roll (Butter Toffee)
  • Delicia Sambal Bilis
  • Fluffy Bun Red Bean
  • Toast’em Butter Raisin
  • Delicia Butterscotch, Choco Raisin, and Raspberry Milk and Cranberries

According to Gardenia Bakeries Sdn Bhd (GBKL), the price increase for these selected products is caused by the rising cost of raw materials such as vegetable fat, cocoa powder and milk, as well as the packaging cost. “Previously, GBKL managed to absorb these costs, but now we have no other alternatives but to revise the prices of selected Gardenia products,” said GBKL.

The company also noted that it has been experiencing a significant increase in manufacturing and raw material costs over the past few years. “Increasing the prices is the last resort after all measures have been taken and our focus now is to optimise productivity and efficiency in our factories,” it said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the price for other Gardenia products will remain unchanged as GBKL will continue to absorb the additional costs.
