Gardenia To Increase Prices Of Selected Baked Goods On 1 October 2023

Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd has confirmed that some of its baked products are set to cost more starting from 1 October 2023, with prices increasing between 20 sen to 67 sen.

Specifically, Gardenia’s baked goods that will be impacted by this round of price hike include:

Meanwhile, the prices of Gardenia’s Original Classic white and wholemeal bread, as well as Toast’em bread series will remain unchanged. This is in hopes that a majority of Gardenia’s customers will not be burdened by the price increase, said a representative of the company. However, no reason was shared for this round of price review.

Gardenia last increased the retail prices of its products back in September 2022. At that time, it cited the increase in the ingredient cost – including high protein and wholemeal flour, as well as packaging materials – as justification for its price hike.

20 sen to 67 sen might seem little, but effectively was an increase of 19% to 20%. It’s outrageous!
