LHDN Introduces WhatsApp Updates For Taxpayers
Author Avatar

The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN), has introduced a new information search platform using WhatsApp, aimed at making tax updates more accessible to the public.

The new channel allows taxpayers to receive official tax-related information directly on their mobile phones through registered WhatsApp numbers.

How LHDN’s WhatsApp Platform Works

Through the WhatsApp application, LHDN will send tax updates, payment reminders, arrears notifications, and compliance alerts. The service is designed to support taxpayers in staying informed about their obligations without needing to regularly check the LHDN website or wait for physical notices.

LHDN confirmed that its official WhatsApp profile is named Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Malaysia and uses the phone number 03-8911 1000. Taxpayers are advised to verify this information carefully to avoid confusion with unofficial or fraudulent accounts.

Why This Update Matters For Tax Compliance

For individuals managing personal income tax, the new WhatsApp channel can help reduce missed deadlines and unexpected penalties. Timely reminders and notifications may make it easier to plan payments, track outstanding balances, and respond quickly to compliance issues.

This approach also reflects a broader move towards digital communication, which may benefit taxpayers who prefer mobile-first access to government services.

Tanya Hafy Replaces Tanya@HKC On LHDN Portal

Alongside the WhatsApp rollout, LHDN has launched an upgraded enquiry platform known as Tanya Hafy. This new system replaces the earlier Tanya@HKC feature on the official LHDN portal.

According to LHDN, Tanya Hafy offers a more systematic and efficient self-service experience. The platform is designed to provide more relevant search results, allowing users to find tax-related information more easily without direct assistance.

Improving Access To Tax Information

LHDN stated that the introduction of the Hasil WhatsApp application and the Tanya Hafy platform is intended to add value for taxpayers. By improving access to accurate and timely information, these tools may help individuals make better-informed financial decisions and stay compliant with tax requirements.

Both initiatives are already in effect and form part of LHDN’s ongoing efforts to modernise taxpayer services in Malaysia.
