Merchantrade Money's FIFA World Cup 2026 Card Is Not Just For Football Fans
Author Avatar

Merchantrade Money has launched a limited edition co-branded Visa prepaid card featuring the official FIFA World Cup 2026 design. The card works identically to the standard Merchantrade Money card, with the same features and spending limits, just with a new look for football fans and collectors.

Card Features And Spending Limits

The FIFA World Cup 2026 card is a Visa prepaid card that lets you store and spend in over 20 currencies with no foreign exchange fees. It can be used anywhere Visa is accepted worldwide, including online platforms like Amazon, Netflix, and Agoda, as well as in-store purchases and ATM withdrawals globally.

Local ATM withdrawals carry a fee of RM1.50 to RM2.00, while overseas ATM withdrawals are charged at RM10 per transaction. The card follows your wallet limit of up to RM20,000, and you can manage your Visa payWave limit directly in the app. With the FIFA World Cup 2026 running from 11 June to 19 July across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the card’s zero FX fee structure makes it a practical option for those planning to travel to the matches.

Who Is Eligible To Apply

The card is open to Malaysians and non-Malaysians aged 18 and above with a valid MyKad, MyPR, passport, or other acceptable identification. Applications also require a Malaysian-registered mobile number and a residential address in Malaysia. For those applying at a Merchantrade branch in person, the minimum age is 12.

Each account is limited to one active physical card at a time. If you currently hold the standard red Merchantrade Money card and choose the FIFA design, your previous card will be deactivated once the new one is activated.

Card Validity And Design

The card is valid for five years from the date of issuance and remains fully functional after the World Cup ends. Once it expires, you can keep it as a collectible. Existing customers who choose to switch should note that replacing the card at a branch keeps the same card number, while replacing through the app or at the three selected branches above generates a new card number.

Applying For The Card

New customers can apply through the Merchantrade Money app by downloading it from the App Store or Google Play, completing registration with an ID and selfie, selecting the FIFA World Cup 2026 card design, and topping up a minimum of RM50 via FPX. The card is delivered to your doorstep within five to seven working days and needs to be activated in the app before use.

Existing customers can request a card replacement through Card Settings in the app or at any Merchantrade branch. A standard RM10 replacement fee applies, deducted from your card balance. If you want the card immediately without waiting, the Gardens Mall, Pavilion KL, and Pavilion Damansara Heights branches have stock available on the spot.
