As of 1 June 2026, over nine million formal sector workers contributing under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 are automatically enrolled in Perkeso’s Lindung 24 Jam scheme, according to Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan. Coverage now extends to accidents outside of work, including on weekends, rest days, and public holidays. No new registration needed if you are already a contributor.
Previously, SOCSO only covered accidents during working hours or while commuting. Anything that happened on personal time, at home, over the weekend, or on a public holiday, was not covered. With six in ten workers having no personal accident insurance to fall back on, most had no protection at all the moment they clocked out.
The contribution is paid entirely by employees at 0.75% of monthly wages, subject to a wage ceiling of RM6,000. Your employer deducts it from your salary and remits it to Perkeso. Workers who join the formal sector after 1 June 2026 will be registered through the standard employer registration process.
| Benefit | What It Covers |
| Medical Benefit | Treatment costs from covered accidents |
| Temporary Disablement Benefit | Income replacement while temporarily unable to work |
| Permanent Disablement Benefit | Compensation for lasting injuries |
| Dependants’ Benefit | Support for family if contributor passes away |
| Constant Attendance Allowance | Assistance if full-time care is needed |
| Funeral Benefit | Funeral cost assistance |
| Physical & Vocational Rehabilitation | Recovery and return-to-work support |
| Education Benefit | Support for dependants’ education |
Claims can be submitted online through the Lindung Faedah portal or at any Perkeso office.
Lindung 24 Jam covers accidents outside of work, but does not extend to illness, hospitalisation, or critical conditions. If you’re looking for coverage beyond accidents, comparing personal accident insurance plans can show you what else is available.
