Public Bank Offers Up To 15% Cashback On Petrol, Dining, And Groceries With PB-Petron Visa Cards
Author Avatar

ublic Bank is running a cashback campaign for PB-Petron Visa Gold Credit Cardholders and PB-Petron Visa Debit Cardholders, offering up to 15% back on petrol transactions at Petron stations and 5% on dining and groceries. The campaign runs from 15 April to 30 September 2026.

Registration is required before any spending counts, and there is a minimum monthly spend threshold to clear before cashback kicks in.

Cashback Rates And What They Apply To

If you hold a PB-Petron Visa Gold Credit Card or PB-Petron Visa Debit Card, the campaign offers 15% cashback on fuel and diesel transactions at Petron stations in Malaysia, and 5% cashback on dining and grocery spending.

Both rates apply only once you have accumulated at least RM1,500 in retail spend within the same calendar month. This total includes your petrol, dining, and grocery transactions alongside any other qualifying retail purchases on the card.

The monthly cashback cap is RM80 per principal cardholder, and the maximum you can earn across the full campaign period is RM400.

How To Register Before Spending Counts

Only principal cardholders can register, and you need to do so before any transactions are tracked. Registration is a one-time step, done either through PBe using the campaign keyword PBWG, or by sending an SMS with the word PBWG to 68333.

Any spending made before a successful registration is not counted, regardless of how much you have already spent that month.

What Counts Toward The RM1,500 Minimum

The RM1,500 minimum refers to accumulated retail spend, which covers most everyday card transactions. It includes the petrol, dining, and grocery purchases you are hoping to earn cashback on, as well as other qualifying retail and online purchases.

Several categories are excluded from the retail spend calculation. These include e-wallet top-ups, auto-debit and recurring payments, utilities, insurance premiums, government-related payments, balance transfers, cash advances, and transactions made through the PBe portal or at ATMs. Any transactions that are refunded, disputed, or flagged as unauthorised are also excluded.

If you have a supplementary card under the same account, that cardholder’s eligible spending will be combined with yours toward the RM1,500 monthly minimum.

A Monthly Pool That Fills Up On A First-Come, First-Served Basis

The total cashback available each month is capped at RM30,000 across all participating cardholders, which works out to a maximum of 375 cardholders receiving the full RM80 per month. Once the monthly pool is exhausted, no further cashback is awarded for that period, even if you meet all other requirements.

This means earlier qualifying spend within each month has a better chance of being captured before the pool runs out. Cashback is credited to your principal card account within four to twelve weeks after the end of each respective month.

Joining this campaign makes you ineligible for other ongoing PB credit or debit card usage offers during the campaign period. All your transactions will be excluded from any other running promotions while you are enrolled in this one.

If you currently benefit from a separate PB card offer, it is worth comparing which arrangement gives you more value before registering.

What The Campaign Looks Like In Everyday Spending

To get anything out of this campaign, you need to hit RM1,500 in qualifying retail spend each month. At that level, your monthly card usage may need to cover petrol, meals, groceries, and other retail purchases consistently throughout the campaign.

If you typically fuel up at Petron and do most of your daily spending on the card, the you might reach the limit  reasonably quickly. Spending RM200 on petrol and RM300 on dining and groceries in a month where your total retail spend reaches RM1,500 would earn you RM45 in cashback, based on the structure in the campaign terms.

The 15% petrol rate is the more attractive part of the offer. If you drive regularly and fill up at Petron, this is where the campaign does the most work. The 5% dining and grocery rate is more modest by comparison, though it applies to two spending categories that most households use frequently.

The monthly cap of RM80 limits how much you can earn even if you spend significantly more. Beyond a certain point, additional spending within the same month does not generate more cashback. Spreading qualifying spend across multiple months, rather than concentrating it in one, gives you more chances at the full RM80 each time.

The cashback pool closes at RM30,000 per month across all participants, so the sooner you complete qualifying transactions within a month, the better your position. There is no guarantee that the pool will still be open toward the end of each month.
