Benefit claims under the Social Security Organisation’s (Socso) Lindung 24 Jam scheme more than tripled in July, rising to 2,135 cases from 616 in June.

The scheme recorded just under 600 claims and about RM1.2 million in payouts during its first month, according to an earlier Socso update in early July. 

2,751 Claims Since Launch

Lindung 24 Jam took effect on 1 June 2026. Since then, Socso has received 2,751 claims in total, averaging 45 cases a day. Cumulative payouts have reached RM4.69 million, excluding more than RM2 million in long-term benefits paid to eligible family members.

July’s Claims By Category

From 1 to 31 July, more than 90% of claims were approved within five days, with RM3.45 million paid out to 2,508 recipients. 

Rehabilitation equipment and implants made up the largest share, at more than RM2.5 million. Temporary disability benefits, which replaced lost income during medical leave, came to over RM800,000.

The Scheme Remains Voluntary

Participation in Lindung 24 Jam has been voluntary for Malaysian workers since the Cabinet’s decision in July, though it stays mandatory for foreign workers. Socso said the rise in claims points to a greater need for protection against accidents happening outside the workplace, and encouraged contributors to keep this coverage active.
