The government has announced that the special Aidilfitri allowance for civil servants and pensioners that was announced during the revised Budget 2023 will be disbursed on 17 April 2023. This involves RM700 to be paid to all civil servants of Grade 56 and below, and RM350 for government pensioners.
In a statement, the director general of the Public Services Department (JPA), Datuk Dr Zulkapli Mohamed clarified that those appointed by contracts (contract workers), too, will be eligible for the RM700 aid. Similarly, retirees and veterans who have been reappointed on a permanent or temporary basis, and are still serving as of 17 April, are also qualified to receive the RM700 aid.
Meanwhile, the RM350 aid will be extended to government pensioners from various categories. These include government retirees on pension, published pension recipients, Employees Provident Fund (EPF) retirees, veterans with pension, as well as non-pensioned veterans.
Meanwhile, officers in the top management and civil servants who are subjected to disciplinary action or demotion from 1 January to 17 April are not qualified for the special assistance.
This special Aidilfitri allowance was announced during the re-tabling of Budget 2023 last month by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. At that time, he said that this special package is provided by the government as a token of appreciation for the efforts and sacrifices of civil servants in serving the members of the public. It is also aimed at helping them to prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations.
