Maxis has revealed that it will be providing 30 different types of connectivity and digital solutions for SMEs under the SME Digitalisation Grant initiative. This comes after the telecommunications provider was appointed by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) as one of the technology solutions providers under the grant in June 2020.
According to Maxis, it will offer a wide range of services for various business needs, including digital marketing, electronic point-of-sale, remote working, and e-commerce solutions. It also clarified that two categories of solutions will be eligible for subsidy under the grant:
Maxis further said that SMEs will benefit from having a single Maxis touchpoint for a complete digital onboarding experience, as well as access to a dedicated SME Help Squad to help them find the right solutions for their businesses. The SME Help Squad is one of various efforts carried out independently by Maxis to aid local SMEs in their digitalisation journey. It consists of 100 personnel from Maxis to provide answers and advice to businesses looking to adopt digital solutions.
In addition to that, Maxis revealed that it has also partnered with Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) to provide its SME customers with a simpler as well as more convenient and efficient application process for the grant.
“We are encouraged by the government’s ambition to support SMEs in the country, and the SME Grant will certainly help kickstart and accelerate the growth of businesses which is critical for the economy. We are pleased to be working alongside MDEC and BSN to help facilitate and quicken this process through digital onboarding, single touchpoint, and access to the widest range of cost-effective digital solutions. SMEs around the country are no doubt anxious to get their business back into full swing and we are ready to help them,” said the chief enterprise business officer of Maxis, Paul McManus.
To clarify, the SME Digitalisation Grant is an initiative by the government to encourage SMEs to digitalise their businesses. Introduced during Budget 2020 and highlighted in the PENJANA economic recovery plan, the grant will see the government providing eligible companies with a matching grant of up to 50% (capped at RM5,000) when they subscribe to digital services from approved technology solution providers. A total of RM500 million has been allocated for the initiative over a five-year period, and it is expected to benefit 100,000 SMEs.
