Zurich Malaysia has launched Travel Guard Pro, a travel insurance plan for domestic and overseas trips, alongside a critical illness campaign that pays customers a cash rebate for going for a health screening.
Both were announced by country chief executive officer Junior Cho at the launch of the insurer’s “Ready For Every Change” campaign at GSC Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur on 2 September. The campaign continues the “Care For What Matters” platform Zurich Malaysia started in 2023.
Travel Guard Pro went on sale on 18 August and comes in four plans, sold either as single trip or annual multi-trip protection. One policy can cover you, your spouse travelling with you, and your children.
Depending on the plan you pick, medical expenses overseas are protected for up to RM600,000, personal liability for up to RM1 million, and accidental death and permanent disablement for up to RM400,000. Emergency medical evacuation and repatriation have no cap on the higher overseas plans. Round-the-clock worldwide travel assistance is included in every plan.
Trip cancellation before departure is protected up to RM25,000, lost baggage up to RM7,000, and overseas travel delays paid at RM150 for every six hours up to RM4,200. There is emergency cash of up to RM5,000 for non-Muslim policyholders, and up to RM5,000 for badal haji, wakaf, or qurban for Muslim policyholders.
Premiums start at RM21 for a domestic trip of one to five days, and Zurich Malaysia’s own illustration puts a five-day overseas trip to Japan for a 30-year-old at RM60 plus RM10 stamp duty.
The critical illness campaign runs from 2 September to 30 October. Eligible customers get a cash rebate when they go for a health screening, so Zurich Malaysia pays part of the screening cost before you make any claim.
The campaign also comes with two years of access to Teladoc Health, a virtual healthcare provider. Teladoc gives expert medical opinions on serious and chronic conditions, and offers stress management support.
Compare the plans properly before you pay. Premiums, benefit limits, and exclusions differ from plan to plan, and pre-existing health conditions are left out of most protection plans. Read the product disclosure sheet, check what is excluded, and put any plan side by side with other options before you decide.
Full benefit tables, exclusions, and premiums for Travel Guard Pro are on the Zurich Malaysia website. For the health screening rebate, including the rebate amount and which screening providers are accepted, contact Zurich Malaysia at 1-300-888-622 or email callcentre@zurich.com.my.
