Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) will be introducing a revised structure for late payment charges on all its credit cards, effective 23 August 2025. The update will apply to both Islamic and Conventional BSN Credit Cards, aligning the way these charges are calculated and replacing the current minimum fee requirement.
Under the current structure, both Islamic and Conventional BSN Credit Cards apply either a RM10 minimum charge or 1% of the outstanding balance, depending on which is higher, with a maximum cap of RM100. From 23 August 2025, this will change to a single calculation method which is 1% of the outstanding balance as at the statement date, capped at RM100, without any minimum amount.
| Card Type | Current Terms and Conditions | New Terms and Conditions |
| Islamic Card – Compensation Charges (Ta’widh) | A minimum of RM10 or 1% of the total outstanding balance as at the statement date, whichever is higher, up to a maximum of RM100. | 1% of the total outstanding balance as at the statement date, up to a maximum of RM100. |
| Conventional Card – Late Payment Charges |
The updated calculation method will make late payment charges consistent across all BSN credit card products. Customers will no longer face a flat RM10 minimum. The fee will always be based on a percentage of the outstanding balance. Making payments on or before the due date will help cardholders avoid these charges entirely.
