Maybank customers who rely on the MAE app for daily banking will need to update their app soon to avoid being locked out.
The bank has announced that the app must be updated to version 0.9.45 or newer by 11 April 2026. Devices running older versions may no longer be able to access the service after this date.
For many customers, this affects routine transactions such as transfers, bill payments, and checking balances, which are often done through the app rather than at a branch or ATM.
The update requirement is not optional. Once the deadline passes, older versions of the app may stop working altogether.
To check, open your app store and search for “MAE by Maybank2u”. If an update is available, install the latest version. You can also check your current version within the app settings under the “About” section.
Updating ensures that the app continues to function as expected and remains compatible with Maybank’s systems.
The move aims to address security vulnerabilities and improve protection against fraud or unauthorised access.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and Apple have advised iPhone customers to update to the latest iOS version following the discovery of a security exploit known as “Darksword”.
Keeping both your banking app and your phone software up to date helps reduce exposure to these risks.
For customers who depend on MAE for daily banking, missing the update could interrupt access.
Payments, transfers, and account access may not be available until the app is updated. That can become an issue if it happens during time-sensitive transactions.
Updating ahead of the deadline helps avoid that disruption.
