Boost Bank’s Unlimited Jar pays 3.3% p.a. interest on any amount you put in, until 31 December 2026. There’s no minimum or maximum deposit, and you can take your money out at any time.
To show what 3.3% p.a. means in ringgit, we worked out the interest on RM100, RM300, and RM500. We also compared the Unlimited Jar with Boost Bank’s regular Savings Jar, which pays a lower rate.
The “p.a.” in 3.3% p.a. stands for per annum, which means per year. Boost Bank divides a year’s interest into 365 small parts and pays out one part every day.
Each day’s interest is based on what’s left in the Jar at the end of the day. That day’s interest then goes into the Jar and becomes part of your balance.
The next day, Boost Bank works out your interest on this slightly bigger balance, so yesterday’s interest earns interest too. This repeats every day. Earning interest on top of earlier interest like this is called compound interest.
On RM500, the first day’s interest is RM0.045. The second day’s interest is worked out on RM500 plus that first day’s interest, and so on. Over a few months, compounding adds less than RM0.01 to RM500, so most of what you earn comes from the 3.3% p.a. rate itself. Compounding makes a bigger difference over longer periods, such as savings you leave untouched for years.
Any money you take out of the Jar stops earning 3.3% p.a. from the day you withdraw that money. The rest of your balance keeps earning as usual.
The table shows our own estimates at 3.3% p.a. before rounding, with each day’s interest added back into the Jar. All the RM amounts in this article are worked out the same way.
| Amount In The Jar | Interest Per Day | Interest Over 30 Days |
| RM100 | RM0.009 | RM0.27 |
| RM300 | RM0.027 | RM0.81 |
| RM500 | RM0.045 | RM1.36 |
| RM1,000 | RM0.090 | RM2.72 |
Boost Bank pays interest to two decimal places, so the amounts in your app may be slightly different from our estimates.
Boost Bank’s regular Savings Jars pay 3% p.a., and the main Savings Account pays 2.5% p.a., according to Boost Bank’s savings account page.
The table below shows money placed on 1 November 2026 and left untouched until the campaign ends on 31 December 2026. That’s 61 days.
| Amount Saved | Unlimited Jar (3.3% p.a.) | Regular Savings Jar (3% p.a.) |
| RM100 | RM0.55 | RM0.50 |
| RM300 | RM1.66 | RM1.51 |
| RM500 | RM2.77 | RM2.51 |
The same RM500 in the main Savings Account would earn RM2.09 over those 61 days, so moving that RM500 into the Unlimited Jar adds RM0.68.
Boost Bank’s BoostUP Jar pays a higher 4% p.a., but only if you spend at least RM500 a month through the Boost Wallet. You can also only deposit up to RM3,000 in the BoostUP Jar. The Unlimited Jar has no spending condition, and there’s no limit on how much one person can deposit.
Under the Unlimited Jar terms and conditions, the 3.3% p.a. rate ends on 31 December 2026. From 1 January 2027, the Jar stays in your app but earns Boost Bank’s default rate, which the bank will list on its website.
The rate can also end earlier. Once all customers together have put RM350 million into the Unlimited Jar, the 3.3% p.a. rate no longer applies. The RM350 million is shared on a first-come, first-served basis, and Boost Bank doesn’t have to announce when the limit is reached.
If you’re already planning to keep money in Boost Bank, you can put that money in the Unlimited Jar and earn 3.3% p.a. interest. The Unlimited Jar can hold your emergency fund, or the money you’re setting aside for Chinese New Year and school costs in January. You don’t need to lock the money away or spend anything to keep the rate. Boost Bank is a member of Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM), which protects savings deposits up to RM250,000 per person at each member bank.
Because the promo rate stops at the end of December, money you put in earlier has more days to earn interest. If you put RM500 in on 1 November, you’ll earn RM2.77 by 31 December, while starting on 1 December gets you RM1.40.
To start earning, move any amount into the Unlimited Jar. Interest starts from the day you deposit, and you’ll see the interest added to the Jar every day.
You don’t need to apply for the Unlimited Jar. Log in to your Boost Bank account through the Boost app or the Boost Bank app. The Jar will show up on your Special Jars page.
