Maybank To Discontinue Touch ‘n Go Zing Card
Author Avatar

Maybank has announced that effective 1 March 2023, it will discontinue the Maybank Touch ‘n Go (TNG) Zing card. Accordingly, the bank will no longer issue, renew, or replace the card for customers moving forward.

“Kindly note that any existing Maybank Touch ‘n Go Zing cards that are valid on or after 1 March 2024 can still be used until they expire,” the bank further clarified in its notice to customers.

For context, the Maybank Touch ‘n Go Zing card is a TNG card with an automatic reload function, linked to selected Maybank credit card as a companion card. Specifically, it automatically reloads RM100 from your Maybank credit or charge card when its value drops below RM50 as you use it to pay for expenses like toll fees, parking charges, and public transport fees.

As you can guess, the Maybank Touch ‘n Go Zing card was originally designed to offer better convenience for users back in previous years. The automatic reload function via a linked credit or charge card means that you can reload your TNG Zing card whenever you pass by a toll booth (the auto-reload function can only be done at TNG and SmartTAG lanes at toll plazas), even if you do not have enough cash on hand.

With the introduction of new products, however – namely the enhanced TNG NFC card that allows instant reloads via the TNG eWallet – the Maybank Touch ‘n Go Zing card may have become redundant in today’s environment, leading to Maybank’s recent decision to discontinue the companion card.
