Open An ASNB Account On MAE From RM10
Author Avatar

First-time investors in Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB) can open an account on the MAE app without visiting a branch.

You’ll need an existing Maybank account to apply, and your first investment can be as low as RM10. However, withdrawals are not available through the MAE app.

Eligibility Rules For ASNB Accounts

To open an account on MAE, you must be a Malaysian aged 18 and above with no ASNB account yet. You also need to be an existing MAE user with a Maybank current or savings account, including Islamic accounts. The account must be your own, so you cannot open one for a spouse or child.

You can only invest in funds you qualify for. ASB and ASB 2 are for Bumiputera only, while other Malaysians can choose ASM funds.

Steps To Open Your Account

In the MAE app, tap Apply, go to the Investment tab, and select ASNB Account. You can also tap Accounts, go to the Wealth tab, and select ASNB Accounts. Follow the instructions on the screen after that.

You must make your first investment within a year, or the account is closed. Though you can apply again on MAE afterwards.

Minimum Investment Amounts

You need at least RM10 to invest in a new ASNB fund. If you already have an ASNB account, link it to MAE first. You can then top up your existing funds with as little as RM1

To invest through MAE:

  1. Go to Accounts and select the Wealth tab.
  2. Tap ASNB Accounts.
  3. Choose Subscribe New Fund to invest in a new fund, or Top Up Fund to add money to an existing one.

Alternatively, go to Transfer under Quick Actions and select the ASNB tab.

ASNB Transaction Fees

Maybank charges RM1 for every successful fixed-price ASNB transaction. An 8% Sales and Service Tax (SST) applies to the RM1 fee where applicable, not to the amount you invest.

The RM1 fee stays the same regardless of how much you invest, so it makes up a larger share of smaller investments. It’s 10% of a RM10 investment and 1% of a RM100 investment, before SST.

Cashback For New ASNB Investors

From 1 November 2026 to 31 January 2027, Maybank gives RM3 or RM5 cashback to new ASNB investors who open an account on MAE. Maybank’s campaign page says the cashback is limited to the first 15,000 investors, and terms apply.

Maybank is also running a prize draw for people who invest on MAE. Every two ASNB investments you make in the same phase earn one entry into the ASNB Invest & Win campaign, which runs from 1 September 2026 to 31 January 2027. Each phase draws 148 winners at random. Your prize matches the amount you invest in that phase, up to RM250 in ASNB units.

Withdrawals Still Happen Outside The MAE App

MAE does not support ASNB withdrawals. You can withdraw over the counter at a Maybank branch, ASNB office, or ASNB agent.

To get started, download the MAE app from the App Store or Google Play.
