Public Bank is running a campaign that offers cashback on overseas spending made with its Visa debit cards, including the Public Bank Visa Debit Card, Visa Lifestyle Debit Card, and Petron Visa Debit Card, with a monthly cap of RM160 per cardholder. The campaign runs from 1 April to 30 June 2026.
You will need to spend at least RM350 per month on overseas transactions using your debit card before any cashback is earned.
Once that threshold is met, 20% cashback is applied to your total qualifying spend for that month, capped at RM160. The calculation is based on cumulative monthly spending, so multiple smaller transactions can still add up to meet the requirement.
You will need to register once, either through PBe or by sending an SMS with the campaign code, before any transactions are tracked.
Spending made before registration will not be included, even if it meets the minimum requirement.
Qualifying transactions include purchases made in foreign currency as well as online purchases from overseas merchants.
However, several common categories are excluded, including auto-debit and recurring payments, utilities, insurance, government-related payments, e-wallet reloads, and cash withdrawals. Transactions that are reversed, disputed, or fall outside typical retail spending are also not counted.
Each cardholder can earn up to RM160 cashback per month, but the total cashback pool is limited across all participants.
This means the campaign runs on a first-come, first-served basis, so earlier qualifying spend within the month has a higher chance of being rewarded.
Cashback is credited within four to twelve weeks after the end of each month, provided your account remains active and in good standing.
You are effectively looking at a 20% return on overseas spending once you cross RM350 in a month, which is relatively straightforward on paper.
What changes the outcome is how much of your actual spending qualifies, since several everyday categories are excluded, and whether you are early enough within the monthly allocation to receive the cashback.
For regular overseas spenders, this can work as a simple rebate on transactions you were already planning to make. For everyone else, the benefit depends on whether your spending naturally fits within the campaign structure rather than adjusting your spending just to qualify.
