Public Bank Ups Plaza Premium Lounge Visits to Five but Drops KLIA2 and Penang Access
Author Avatar

If you rely on airport lounge access to make early flights or long transits more bearable, your credit card perks are about to change. Starting 1 April 2026, Public Bank is revising its Plaza Premium Lounge access benefits, and the update includes both an upgrade and a removal.

Under the revised terms, PB Visa Infinite Credit Card and PB World Mastercard Credit Card holders will receive five lounge visits per calendar year, up from three previously. However, several local outlets will no longer be available.

Lounge Visits Increase From Three To Five Per Year

From 1 April 2026, eligible cardholders will receive five complimentary accesses per calendar year to participating Plaza Premium Lounges and designated dining outlets worldwide. This replaces the current three visits per year.

For frequent travellers, this effectively increases the annual value of the benefit by two additional visits. If you typically use your lounge access for return trips and one or two extra flights, the added visits provide more flexibility without requiring a separate lounge membership.

The spending requirement remains unchanged. Cardholders must still make a minimum of RM1,000 in cumulative retail transactions within 30 calendar days before and or after each lounge access.

This means the benefit is not automatic. If you do not meet the RM1,000 spend requirement around the time of your visit, the access may not qualify as complimentary.

Selected Local Lounges Will No Longer Be Available

While the number of visits increases, three outlets will be removed from the programme.

The following locations will no longer be accessible under the benefit:

Plaza Premium Lounge at Gateway@KLIA2
Flight Club Grab ‘n’ Go at Gateway@KLIA2
Plaza Premium Lounge Domestic Departures at Penang International Airport

For travellers who frequently depart from KLIA2 or Penang, this is a practical downgrade. You may have more annual visits available, but fewer usable locations depending on your departure airport.

Before travelling, cardholders are advised to check the updated list of participating lounges to avoid unexpected charges.

The Financial Trade Off Depends On Your Travel Pattern

The revision is both a benefit expansion and a network adjustment. If you travel internationally from terminals where Plaza Premium lounges remain available, the increase from three to five visits improves the card’s value proposition. Each additional visit can easily be worth over RM150 if paid out of pocket.

However, if you primarily use KLIA2 Gateway or Penang Domestic lounges, the removal could reduce the real world usefulness of the benefit, even though the headline number of visits has increased.

There are no changes to the spending requirement, no changes to eligible card types, and no indication of revised annual fees tied to this update.

For cardholders who travel several times a year and regularly meet the RM1,000 spending requirement, the additional visits can increase the overall value of the card. However, those who primarily use the removed KLIA2 or Penang outlets may find the benefit less useful despite the higher visit cap.

Before your next trip, it is worth checking whether your departure airport remains within the participating lounge network to avoid unexpected charges.
