RHB Mobile Banking Adds Fingerprint And Face ID Security
Author Avatar

RHB is updating its Mobile Banking app to require biometric authentication, either fingerprint or Face ID, when performing online transactions, effective June 2026. The change is described as a security enhancement aimed at reducing exposure to fraud.

If you use the RHB Mobile Banking app for transfers, payments, or other online transactions, you will need to have biometric login set up before the update takes effect.

Setting Up Biometric Login In The App

The setup process is done entirely within the app. Log in and tap “Settings” at the bottom right corner of the screen. Under “Security & Privacy”, tap “Quick Login”, then toggle on the biometric option and follow the on-screen steps. You will receive a confirmation notification once the setup is complete.

RHB recommends completing this before June to avoid any disruption to your usual transactions.

A Stricter Layer On Every Online Transaction

Under the current setup, anyone who has access to an already-logged-in app can proceed with transactions without a second check. Requiring biometric confirmation at the transaction level means app access alone is no longer enough to carry out banking actions.

The difference is that even if your phone ends up in someone else’s hands while unlocked, they cannot complete a transfer or payment without passing the biometric step. It adds a small amount of friction to each transaction, but it very safely closes a gap that login-only protection leaves open.
