Vircle, the pocket money app used in more than 100 Malaysian schools since 2020, now works outside school too. Its new Scan & Pay feature lets your child pay at any shop with a DuitNow QR code, using the Vircle app on their own phone, while the spending limits you set stay in place.
Vircle says Scan & Pay is free to use and calls it a first in Malaysia. Until 31 October 2026, every payment your child makes with it counts as one lucky draw entry.
Scan & Pay runs on a feature called Child Login, which you switch on from your own Vircle app. Open your child’s dashboard, tap Enable Now next to Child Login and set their login details. Your child then downloads Vircle, signs in with those details and taps Scan to Pay at the counter.
From your phone, you can set a daily spending limit and pick which days it applies. You’ll get a notification each time your child pays, showing the shop and the amount, and you can freeze DuitNow spending from the app if something looks wrong. Your child can also receive money from you or send it to another verified child on Vircle.
Vircle promotes Scan & Pay for teens, but it hasn’t published a minimum age for Child Login.
Start from the pocket money you already give. RM150 a month spread over 20 school days works out to RM7.50 a day. Set a RM7.50 limit on school days only, and your child can’t spend next week’s allowance on one trip to the mall, even if their Vircle balance is higher. Unless you add Saturday and Sunday too, they won’t be able to pay on weekends.
There’s no limit on lucky draw entries and nothing to register for. Every entry is recorded under your account as the parent.
A RM2 drink and a RM50 book each earn one entry. Talk to your child about it now, so they don’t start buying things one at a time just for extra entries.
Vircle is giving away 150 prizes, which it values at RM10,000 in total, and each account can win once.
| Prize | Winners | Value Each |
| One-year Vircle Club membership | 100 | RM88 |
| One-year Student Protect cover | 50 | RM28 |
Vircle Club is the subscription that comes with the Vircle Visa Prepaid Card, which your child can use online and anywhere Visa is accepted. RinggitPlus covered the same card when CelcomDigi started offering it through SafePAY Jr.
Student Protect is Vircle’s personal accident plan for students, and the insurer is Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad. It covers your child for accidents up to RM170,000 and pays up to RM40,000 towards their education if something happens to a parent.
If you already pay for Vircle Club or Student Protect and win the matching prize, you won’t get cash back. Your next renewal fee is waived for a year instead. Prizes can’t be exchanged for cash, and a payment that’s later cancelled, refunded or disputed can get you disqualified.
The money in your child’s Vircle account is e-money held by Fasspay, a licensed e-money issuer. It isn’t a bank deposit, so PIDM protection doesn’t apply.
If you close the Vircle account, you’ll pay a RM1 fee to withdraw the remaining balance. Keep the balance to what they’ll spend in a week or two, and put longer-term savings in a junior savings account or savings account for teens, where they’ll earn interest and stay protected.
