During the tabling of Budget 2022, Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz announced that higher education students from B40 households will receive a tablet under the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia nitiative, which is expected to benefit 600,000 students.
According to Tengku Zafrul, students from B40 households have faced difficulties with online learning many cannot afford laptops or tablets to participate in online classes or lectures. To ensure the continuity of the B40 students’ learning sessions, the government will offer a tablet to every student in any higher learning institution who falls in the B40 group.
A total of RM 450 million will be allocated for this programme with a contribution of RM 65 million from telco companies.
