The government plans to expand individual income tax relief to encourage more Malaysians to adopt environmentally sustainable and safer lifestyles. Under the proposal, taxpayers will be able to claim up to RM2,500 for specific household purchases, including food waste grinders and home closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems.

Promoting Green And Safe Living

According to the Ministry of Finance, the initiative is designed to promote sustainability and safety through the adoption of green technology and smart safety systems at home. It forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to create more environmentally conscious and secure communities.

The enhanced tax relief will apply from the year of assessment 2026 to 2027.
