Maybank 2 Cards Update Cashback And TreatsPoints Terms
Author Avatar

Maybank has updated the Terms and Conditions for its Maybank 2 Gold and Maybank 2 Platinum Cards, focusing on Cashback and TreatsPoints. The revised terms took effect from 6 January 2026 and apply to all cardholders of these two cards.

The update does not change how rewards are earned. Instead, it explains more clearly how Cashback and TreatsPoints are adjusted when a purchase is refunded or reversed.

Clearer Treatment Of Refunded Spending

Under the revised terms, Cashback and TreatsPoints linked to purchases that are later refunded or reversed may be taken back from a cardmember’s account.

This applies whether the refund is full or partial, and no matter when the refund happens. The deduction may also happen even if the rewards had not yet appeared in the account when the original purchase was made.

Broader Wording Around Reversals

Earlier terms already allowed Maybank to reverse Cashback in some situations. The updated wording makes this clearer and applies it more widely.

The revised terms now clearly cover refunds or reversals made by any party, including those processed much later, helping to reduce confusion about when rewards may be adjusted.

Reward Earning Structure Remains The Same

There is no change to how Cashback or TreatsPoints are earned on eligible spending.

Spending categories, reward rates, and eligibility rules remain unchanged. The update only affects what happens to rewards after a purchase is refunded or reversed.

Implications For Day To Day Card Use

For cardholders, this means that rewards earned from a purchase may be removed if the purchase is later refunded, even if the refund happens some time after the original transaction.

This is especially relevant for large purchases, disputed charges, or situations where rewards have already been used before a refund is processed.

The update reinforces that Cashback and TreatsPoints are tied to purchases that are completed and kept, not spending that is later reversed.

For consumers who track rewards closely as part of everyday spending, checking reward balances after refunds can help avoid surprises and provide a clearer picture of how much has truly been earned.
