Rapid KL Now Accepts Credit & Debit Cards At All Counters
Author Avatar

Rapid KL has announced that it has enabled credit and debit card acceptance at all of its customer service counters for LRT, MRT, Monorail, and BRT rail networks. Customers can now pay for tokens, top up their Touch ‘n Go cards, and subscribe to concession passes like My50 and MyCity without needing physical cash.

In its announcement, Rapid KL stated that the introduction of credit and debit card acceptance will make the purchasing process easier and more efficient for customers, especially if they do not have any cash on hand in today’s increasingly cashless society. Besides cards, all counters currently also accept QR-based payments besides cash.

However, card acceptance is still only limited to Rapid KL customer service counters, and not at the LRT or MRT gates – these are still limited to tokens and Touch ‘n Go cards. This is confirmed via multiple replies on its Facebook page.

Nevertheless, this announcement is another step towards the open payment system for all Rapid KL services that was announced last year. It also follows the recent introduction of card payments at all KTM Komuter stations, which accepts card payments directly at the automated control gates.
