UOB Malaysia will begin accepting applications for its new credit cards that are meant to replace existing Citi cards, starting from mid-July 2023. Additionally, the card face of one of these Citi replacement cards has also been revealed, namely the UOB Zenith card.
Most Citi credit cardholders will be aware by now that they are set to receive their replacement cards from UOB starting from October 2023, following UOB’s acquisition of Citi’s consumer banking business in Malaysia. These include brand new cards – like the UOB Zenith (replacing Citi Prestige), UOB PRVI Miles Elite (replacing Citi PremierMiles), and UOB World (replacing Citi Rewards World Mastercard) – as well as revised and rebranded cards, such as the UOB ONE Classic and Platinum, UOB Preferred, and Lazada UOB cards.
Now, we’ve been informed by an agent at a UOB credit card sign-up booth that new customers who are interested in any of these Citi replacement cards can also begin to submit applications for them within the next few weeks! This likely means that the product pages for the new cards will be made live then as well, and you’ll be able to see for yourself how each card looks like.
While we wait for that upcoming update, though, the UOB card sign-up booth also gave us our first glimpse of at least one new card: the UOB Zenith card – shown in the visual at the start of this article. As you can see, the card face of the UOB Zenith has been designed to look both minimalist and elegant, with a cross-weave pattern without numbers printed on the front.
Meanwhile, here’s the card face of the Citi Prestige card for comparison, which the UOB Zenith card is meant to replace:
Aside from that, no other info has been revealed yet for the card faces of other Citi replacement cards (unfortunately!), but we were told that the PRVI Miles Elite card will sport a different design than the standard UOB PRVI Miles card. Specifically, it’ll be a black card, whereas the UOB PRVI Miles is dark gray in colour (as you can see below).
We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more updates regarding UOB’s upcoming migration of Citi’s assets and products to its own ecosystem (which is expected to take place between 14 to 16 July), as well as its Citi replacement cards, so do check back in with us from time to time!
