CIMB Bank and CIMB Islamic Bank have launched a special edition Visa debit card to support children with cerebral palsy in Malaysia. This initiative, the first of its kind in the country, aims to empower children with cerebral palsy by providing resources to help them build confidence and independence while raising awareness about the condition.
CIMB will contribute RM2 to Gabungan Anak-Anak Palsi Serebrum (GAPS) for every new Visa debit card issued, with proceeds from the campaign supporting the non-governmental organisation’s efforts to provide essential rehabilitation equipment and enrichment programmes for children with cerebral palsy. Additionally, the debit card is made from recycled PVC material, reflecting CIMB’s commitment to sustainability. More information about the special edition CIMB Visa debit card can be found here.

Effendy Shahul Hamid, CEO of Group Consumer and Digital Banking at CIMB, emphasised the bank’s commitment to driving community-level change.
“This partnership with GAPS reflects our belief that positive change begins at the community level,” he said, adding that CIMB’s support aims to improve lives and strengthen community bonds.
Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, who also officiated the launch, praised CIMB’s initiative, highlighting its significance in creating a tangible social impact beyond financial services. She noted that such efforts promote inclusion and encourage collective action, which is essential for fostering a more compassionate society.

Meanwhile, CIMB also introduced its Community Hub, available at selected branches, blending a celebration of the bank’s 100 years of service with a space for meaningful community engagement. These hubs will serve as collaborative facilities for NGOs, customers, and community members to develop impactful initiatives. CIMB plans to expand this model to branches nationwide.
